I have been lazy, no excuses for it...

Life has been one manic change...with me leaving the family and moving to Melaka...

yes...it's just 2 1/2 hours away from JB...but when you are a mother...and you have a family..

it's a big move...much bigger than anything else...

I'm still getting used to being alone and night...and only hearing Max from Mondays to Fridays on the phone...
It still breaks my heart every time I board the bus headed for Melaka..
and
It still excites me every Friday when I am homebound for JB...

and Max..
he's been such a wonderful kid...had his moments when I first moved..
but he's coping fine now...
and...
getting used to the idea...

I'm still wishing that things would seem less difficult for me...but it is..
STILL VERY DIFFICULT!!

Christmas Eve...the lil prince was all ready to open his presents and exhausted himself so much that he fell asleep at 8.30 and didn't wake up till Christmas Day. He missed midnight mass!
Christmas morning....it was drizzling and very cool so it really did feel like a white Christmas, except without snow
Midday - the FAMILY arrived for our yearly get-together and gift exhange
Before exchanging presents, of course we had to fill our hungry tummies first
And then, the gift exchange began...Max was the reluctant receipient of gifts...just look at his face
of course, everyone else was just delighted to receive gifts, especially the big uns

The Big British fry-up at a local greasy spoon...complete with bubble and squeak – yummylicious!

I've been hospitalized yet again.
seem as if my acid reflux problem has taken a turn for the worst.
i was throwing up non-stop for two days, couldn't take any liquid or solid,
had to be jabbed with all sorts of painkillers
and worst of all,
been told that i have an increased risk of getting eosophageal cancer if i don't control the GERD problem with medication.
doc seems to think that i may have to be on long-term or life-long medication.
and all these while,
taking a leaf from Lisa,
I've been thinking happy thoughts!!!
God, please give me the strength to go on...

it may seem a bit morbid but every christmas, for some unexplainable reason, i am reminded about all the people that i have loved and lost, especially those who are no longer with me...

so here's to:
my MAMA (grandmother) who has made so much difference in my life. And how I will never forget the times when you were willing to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on during my rebellious adolescent years. I miss your joking and quirky nature, how you use to end every conversation with "Mama will pray to God to bless you" and how you use to peep out of Aunty Molly's house window when we dropped by outside her house. I wish I could hold and hug you and tell you how much I miss you and I hope that by living in your example, I will continue being a person you brought me up to be.

my CHEK CHEK (uncle Black) who relentlessly use to cycle me up and down Jalan Chengai to attend tuition classes, even when I was at my fattest. I miss the way you use to say that "Polly (Pearl) is always the siow one in the family" and how you used to be such a significant presence in our lives, even if you just were there and did not say anything. I wish I was there in your final moments to hold you, and tell you how much I am grateful to you for all the things you have done for all of us.

God must have loved you so much to take you away at such a young age. But we will always remember your beautiful voice that used to resonate throughout the church. You are truly our songbird from heaven and just watching your sisters sing in church, I am reminded of you. max is now growing to be a real terror...

it's fun though most of the times,

when I listen to him try to rationalize things to himself

like when he says,

video pause first, max go and pom pom, come out and continue..

or when he sings his lil songs like,

reach for the stars,

or when he snuggles up to us and asks to be "sayang"

it's really a beautiful experience to be part of his growing up process.

Our country's come 50 years, so why is it that some people are still so "desperate" while others are "lackadaisical".
